Sleetshadow disdainfully crossed the scent barrier around his camp, and into the winter wonderland. His one warm save haven with no stinkin' snow on the ground, he thought as his amber eyes narrowed. The white tom awkwardly padded through the snow, lifting his foot immeadiately after it touched the puffy looking white substance, which made his walking resemble that of a fawn first learning how to run. A grimace ran across the deputy's face, as he stared over to whole forest. White. The whole entire forest was pure white. How could he hunt in this pure white forest of snow. Growling, he stalked out into a clearing, that seemed to lead into a path. It was odd how this one "path" was not covered with snowwy trees like the rest of the forest, it was just covered in that evil white menace. Sleetshadow grunted and strayed out of the trees and toward the treeless "path". It would be easier than dodging trees, and trying to not touch this snow for too long. he decided with a growl. He slowly walked toward the path, then lifted a paw to step on it, as if to test it. It seemed ok, so he walked onto it with his two front paws, that's when the trouble started. Sleetshadow yowled in terror, as he lost his footing, and slumped down into the snow. Shivering, his head appeared from the bundle of whiteness, and he tried to run toward the trees again, but he slid out into the middle of the path, now completely covered in snow, and felt as useless as a fish out of water. He shivered, and tried to get up again, but falling down with every try. He yowled as loud as he could for help, and scrambled to his paws, only to collapse. "Help me!" cried the white tom, but with no answer, he curled into a ball and started to shiver crazily. His teeth chattered, not only out of cold, but out of fear too. Sleetshadow gulped, and tucked his nose under his thin and useless fur to warm up, but he did not warm up. He started to cough instead, and then was silent.

Owlstar trotted along the snow laden ground. Clumps of thick snow clung to his thick ginger fur and he glanced around. Then, he spontaneously rolled into the powdery snow that covered the willow tops, and killed the reeds. The old tom rolling in the snow was an odd sight and comical to watch, like a kit having a good time. After a few moments of his youthful enjoyment he heaved himself onto his legs that were beginning to ache from the frosty cold. He returned to the reason why he had ventured into the freezing temperatures. He hadn't seen his deputy since sun-high, or what seemed to be sunhigh, but he couldn't be sure because of the thick overcast. The old leader knew for a fact that his deputy loathed the snow and everything it stood for. He sighed and thought about where he could be, and what trouble he could get into with his paper thin fur and hatefulness of the cold. Owlstar took a few bounding leaps through the deeper of the icy crystals and decided to explore the confines of the frozen river. Owlstar trudged through the snow, its frosty touch biting at his belly. He felt the ground beneath the snow was rough and bumpy and he knew he had reached the marshy area around the river. Other then that there was no distinction from the snow and the frozen river. "Sleetshadow?" he called through the frigid air, a plume of hot air coming from his mouth as he spoke.

(I forgot Sleet is white.. you may have trouble finding him e.e)
Sleetshadow lifted his frost veiled head, still shivering with all his might. He uttered a tiny, "Over here," then felt his head fall nto the snow from lack of rest. The white deputy closed his eyes, and splayed out over the snow, the worst thing to do in temperatures this low, and waited to freeze, or better yet, be found.

Owlstar's torn ears perked up and he sniffed the air with a scrutinizing expression. He snuffled through the powdery snow, and slowly drifted into to the river's edge. He breathed in the freezing air, but there was a small breeze of a warmer scent in the air. The old tom cat warily edged his way onto the ice. Beneath the layer of ice he could faintly feel the sloshing of the bitterly cold water. Even a Riverclan cat wouldn't dive head first into that. He tried to disperse his weight so the ice would not crack below his paws. The leader's bottom jaw dropped and he inhaled to taste the scents. There was that warm smell again. He shuffled his paws around the glacier surface. The tom cat shuffled with a anxious expression, until he felt a disturbingly chilled body. Owlstar's eye grew wide and he began brushing the powdered snow off the body. "Sleekshadow? Sleetshadow? Answer me!" Owlstar trilled, his voice high with worry. He thought he was already to late.

The tom's sides rose and fell uneavenly. His breathe was almost as cold as the icy air. Despite this, Sleetshadow's eyes fluttered open. He blinked in terror, not being able to see, but then his eyes adjusted, and they locked on Owlstar. "Owlstar?" he croaked in his snake-like voice. He blinked again and tried to move his body, to stand up, or evern twtch his tail tip, but he couldn't feel any part of his body. He was completely numbed by the snow. The RiverClan deputy gulped and looked bakc at Owlstar. "I-I can't move.." he stuttered quietly, not feeling his lips as they formed the words.

Owlstar grunted, "Then I guess I'm gonna have to carry you." With little effort, the big and powerful tom gripped the freezing cat's scruff and heaved him out of his frozen chamber of snow. The deputy felt unnaturally cold and heavy. Unceremoniously he began dragging the lean tom out of the grips of the river's unmerciful power. As soon as they were three fox lengths away from the river he dropped his grip of the cat and glowered down at him. "Get up." he ordered.

Sleetshadow's legs unnaturally twitched back and forth, a he tried to heve himself up, then triumphantly, the white tom was propped up on his front two legs. Her lowered his head in submission, knowing that he would get punished for his cowardice. He sighed and waited for his punishment. Warily, he lifted his head to look up at Owlstar. Penetrated by his green glare, his lowered his head again.

The leader cuffed him over the ear like a naughty kit, his brow furrowed into a distinct scowl. He was sorting out whether to punish him in front of the rest of the clan, or put him to cleaning the elder's pelts like an apprentice. "I am very disappointing in you." The leader growled, then continued. "What would apprentices think if they heard their deputy is disabled after a little slip in the snow!" he hissed. The old tom glared at his deputy's bowed head for a moment then continued in on his rant. "And you could get sick, and with the lack of herbs that's the last thing we need!" he shook his head, "Come on, lets go to camp." The leader strode through the snow packed path, not willing to wait for his melancholy deputy.

He looked up at his leader padding away and stood up straight- through much pain, I should say- and padded after his leader, his eyes trailing down toward his paws in frustration. Despite the young tom's appearance of happiness, on the inside, he was punishing himself worse than a leader ever could. Sleetshadow made himself remember that he would never make this mistake again.
