Sitting up and stretcing, hawkstar glanced torwars the entrance of his den. The fog covered everything as if in a blanket. He shivered, and rolled over to face his mate.

Sandthistle smiled warmly and licked his nose with a giggle. She fluffed up her fur against the cold wind and suppressed a shiver. Instincitvely, she shuffled closer to her mate and lay her head in his shoulder. "Leafbare is going to be hard this year..." she mewed quietlym, her amber eyes flickering from her mate's face to the cold snow outside.

Hawkstar purred with pleasure. "We'll get through it. we always do..* he whispered. He snuggled in closer to her, pressing himself into the curve of her body.

She licked his nearest ear, and smiled, though her eyes were clouded with worry. "I heard the river froze.." she whispered, as she liftd her head and loooked out of the den. "The lake could be next, and then there would we be? the end have already started to frost..."

"We could brake the ice near the edge for water...And this snow can be brought into the dens to melt for water...we dont eat from the lake......" he mumered. He to was worried.

She sighed, and looked at her paws. This was true, but it wouldn't keep her from fearing for her clan, her mate, her future kits. As she thought the last thought, she uttered a gasp and turned to Hawkstar. "I forgot, I need to tell you something." she mewed in excitement. Her amber eyes shone against her andy pupil, and she started to purr.

She grinned impishly, showing her teeth. "I'm pregnant." she whispered slyly, waiting for the excitement.

She started to purr to, and stood up. A very tiny bulge was evident on her belly, and she smiled again. "I found out yesterday, and Thymetongue says they're due in 1 and a half moons." she mewed.

She nodded triumphantly and gave her chest a quick lick. Purrs rumbled form her muzzle and she rubbed her head against Hawkstar's.

Hawkstar purred with pleasure. kits! the word alone sent shivers down his spine. "don worry. I'll make sure you and our kits have enough to drink and enough to eat."
