Willowstar stared into the ice before. She sat alone by a small puddle, frozen over by the bitter cold. A thin layer of mist swirled on top of the layer of ice which seemed to transfix the leader. The weak sunlight caught the mist at different points as it swirled with the wind. Colors flashed before her eyes and light glinted majestically off the ice. The cat didn't seem to even mind the harsh wind buffeting her. Her fur stood up all different ways as the wind pushed at her as if trying to get her to move.
However, the she-cat sat where she was, her muscles rigid with cold. But the leader didn't even seem to notice her surrounds. The wind at her back or the brilliance before her eyes. In fact, Willowstar's mind was far away from where she sat physically.
Willowstar was deep in thought. Everything was a confused jumble inside her head. one thought coming after another. And no matter how much she tried push away her thoughts, they doubled and came back at her full swing, almost drowning her. She tried to surface but problem after problem came up, taking her down again to think of a solution. Hunger, low herbs, bad weather, tempers, contention within the clan. They had been having such horrible weather on the moors, they had to huddle up in the camp to stay warm. Which eventually got tempers and irritation going throughout the warriors. everyone seemed to be vexing some cat or another. Then the bitter frost had killed many herbs leaving their medicine cat terribly low. Some cats had even fallen ill with barely any herbs to treat them.
Tension was high in the clan and Willowstar had no idea what to do. She had even begun to murmur about their sufferings. And Starclan were silent like the bold nights. It all seemed hopeless...
