Bravepaw took her usual toll into the WindClan apprentices den and lay down. She tucked her brown paws under her chest, and fluffed her fur up against the cold. Leafbare had become nearly unbearable, and cats of all clans had their ribs sticking out like the gnarled roots of a tree out of the soft winter ground. She sighed, and lay her head on the brittle ground. He eyelids drooped, and she lay silently, awaiting her normal slumber. But, the slumber that came could be described as any word, but normal..
The medium brown she-cat fell into total and utter darkness. Voices calle dot her, and she longed to crawl to any of them, but her feet seemed nailed to the ground. She whimpered helplessly, and curled herself into a ball. Her ears pricked, as another voice called. It was high, and gentle, and she longed to pad towards it, but again with the feet. Instead, the voice came towards her. Her eyes opened, and light overwhelmed her. She blinked once, then, as her eyes adjusted, a pretty slender she-cat came into view. The she-cat walked towards Bravepaw, and touched her nose.
"Who are you?" Bravepaw questioned suspiciously. Her amber eyes flickered, but never wavered from the she-cat.
"I am Leafstar, past leader of SkyClan." mewed the she-cat in a tinkling voice, that reminded Bravepaw of bells.
Bravepaw's mouth gaped, but she closed it without hesitation, and faked a grin. "I thought there were only four clans in the forest. Always have been, always will." she pressed. Her fur stood on end at Leafstar's answer.
"There are now.. SkyClan used to be a clan, but they were driven out by the other clans when territorys depleted from twolegs." she explained, "an ancient cat, that you have never heard of, came to find us. He nursed us back to health, and saved SkyClan. We still live today near a faraway twolegplace." Leafstar smiled warmly at Bravepaw, then turned to look away form her. "You must go on a dangerous journey and find us.. it is the only way to save your clans."
Bravepaw lifted an eyebrow. "What do you mean?" she asked, but Leafstar started to fade into nothingness. The apprentice yowled for her, but no answer. Slowly, she regained conciousness, and was back in the Apprentice's den again. "What an odd dream.." she muttered, and padded out to start her morning routine.
