He rushed in his eyes wide, with unknown fear. He whipped his head around. He wasn't aloud here, it wasn't his clan, Darkclan was his clan, but he needed to see Hazelfire, "Hazelfire!?" he called.
Hazelfire popped her head from out of the Warrior's den, she had been woken at the call of her name, and she knew that voice. "Cloudheart...?" she asked wearily, unsure to why he was here, was the camp under attack? She looked around, her green eyes searching, no, every thing was calm. "What are you doing here?"
Badgerstar was curled up in the deepest part of his den, and his head whipped up, his nostrils flared with the stench of Darkclan. He rushed out of his den, but he froze when he saw his niece. She had approached the warrior like a friend, he crouched low scrutinizing the young pair. He growled in throat, but knew there was no harm in those two. But it didn't mean it wouldn't watch.
He padded up to her and touched his nose to hers, his purr was easily heard in the night, but he didn't care. "I just wanted to see you Hazelfire, thats all."
"Oh, Cloudheart..." she murmured, put her forehead on his chest, with a soft sigh, "This is camp, I'm surprised no one has noticed you."
He licked the top of her head gently, "I just wanted to be with you, can we go into the forest?" he asked softly, nuzzling her head up so he could look into her green eyes.
She gazed into his blue eyes, and she nodded silently and padded out with him, resting her head on his shoulder.
The ginger and white she-cat padded in calmly, his nostrils flared breathing in the cool air of the windblown forest. Her paws sank into the grainy sand, and it felt perfect. The night was clear, and even with snow upon the ground nothing could cool her heart.
Cloudheart trotted next to her, matching her steady pace. He looked into the cold gloom of the night forest, he brushed his muzzle against her neck. "We're alone now, Hazelfire." he breathed into her ear.
The young cat purred softly and she looked at him, and her green eyes flashed with sudden caring and warmth. A smile came to her lips, "I love you so much, Cloudheart..." she purred, in return, twinning her tail with his.
The creamy tom cat purred in his throat, and licked her ear affectionately. "I love you, too, not even if I dived into a frozen river would it cool." He whispered to her in the moment of time, the world seemed to freeze, and every living thing was as one.
Hazelfire's soft whisper broke the silence. "I have something to tell you..." She seemed to hesitant, nervous of what his reaction would be. Her green eyes gazed into his blue, and she smiled wearily. "I'm expecting kits." she murmured to him.
Cloudheart blinked in surprise, then smiled warmly. He put his forehead against hers and purred, "That's wonderful."
Badgerstar has stalked in their shadow watching them with curiosity. But now he bit back a snarl of anguish, he was a half breed cat, half Moonclan, half Serpentclan. He had seen rogue and clan kits come into his clan but Darkclan! The ginger tom leaped between them with a low growl, "What is the meaning of this!?"
The Darkclan tom leaped backwards his eyes wide, "Oh, um, I just wandering." He stammered, his blue eyes wide with surprise and shock.
Hazelfire stepped in front of him, her eyes flaring with fire. She was beginning to bristle along her spine, "Leave him alone, Badgerstar." She warned.
The Leader stood his straightest and glared at Cloudheart. The violent scar that tore across his face, glared in the moonlight and scrutinized the warrior. "Wandering? In the middle of Serpentclan territory!" He laughed scornfully.
Hazelfire turned to Cloudheart, "You should probably go." She whispered, lowering her head.
Cloudheart hesitated his paws kneading the frigid snow nervously, his gaze shifted between the leader and the warrior. "Will you be okay...?" he whimpered, almost silently.
"Wait." Badgerstar ordered sternly, his eyes like ice. "I can't have Darkclan kits in my clan." he snarled, his ears against his skull with
Hazelfire yelped in terror, "B-but your a half clan cat too!" she cried, backing up anxiously, stress written across her face.
The no longer lofty tom arched his spine and snarled, "Don't you dare do anything to hurt her!" His fur was bristling all along his spine and his eyes glittered maliciously.
Badgerstar ignored the Darkclan warrior and turned to Hazelfire's question with an angry face. "I was not responsible for that." he spat, and then he stood taller over his kin. "Leave here, and don't bring your kits back when they're born."
She wailed and collapsed onto her haunches. "Why should the kits be punished for something I did!" The ginger and white she-cat cried, backing up against Cloudheart.
"Leave!" snarled the leader, his lips curled back to reveal his deadly fangs.
"But we're kin, uncle!" Hazelfire yowled into the still air, backing into the gloom of the forest. "Why would you abandon your kin?"
"Just leave! And don't return until you are rid of those half clan runts!" he snarled and leaped into the forest and into the dusk.
Hazelfire stifled a cry and looked at where her leader had vanished. "Lets just get out of here." Slowly the two cats came from a droopy walk into a swift trot until they exited the Serpentclan border's into the unknown.
