Rosepaw slowed to a trot and sniffed around.
Fawnfur bounded in,but her pace slowed, too.
She parted her jaws to drink in the scents.Two-day old mouse...stale rabbit... Then she smelled a fresh scent of thrush. She carefully walked though the undergrowth, followin g the trail.
She lowered her nose to the ground, and twitched her ears in acknowledgment before slinking slowly through a bushel of ferns. Her lower jaw dropped slightly, the scents of the forest flew into her mouth.
Fawnfur soon saw it,resting on a low-lying branch. She stalked it,keeping to the shadows.
She swung her head to a different scent of mouse, her eyes glowed and slowly her paws brushed the ground like feathers.
Her silver eyes were glowing, erie in the shadows. She crouch down, gathering power in her hindquaters.
Then she leaped. The thrush woke up and was about to fly away but Fawnfur was quicker. She landed squarely on it,then swiftly nipped its neck.
Rosepaw narrowed her darkening eyes and crouched low her belly fur brushing the ground. The she-cat cocked her head to the side, listening and the soft nose of a mouse poked through the leaves. Her entire body tensed and slowly she stalked forward.
Her enthusiasm began to take over and she leaped to soon and her leap was short. The mouse ran swiftly and she pounced once but the little rodent escaped through her paws.
"Mousedung!" She swore, her tail lashing. "I need more practice..."
"Don't worry.I used to do that all the time,"Fawnfur said, putting her thrush down.
She scented a fairly fresh vole scent and decided to follow it. Fawnfur followed the scent and soon saw the prey, looking for food among the roots. She posed herself for the Hunter's Crouch, leaning back, getting ready to spring.
The vole heard Fawnfur lean back and it started to scurry away.Fawnfur's eyes widen and she leaped, pinning down the prey. She swifty killed the vole. She carried it back to her thrush and placed it beside it.
She grabbed her thrush and vole."I'm going back to the camp,Rosepaw."Then Fawn padded out.
The apprentice jumped up again and quickly returned to searching. She froze when she found the distinct scent of vole.
She narrowed in on a certain spot spot and she stealthily crouched and began to zone into her hunting instincts. Her fur began to bristle with excitement and she could barely withstand herself before she got into range and leaped forward bringing her paw down on the small creature. She quickly dispatched it, and lifted her head giving thanks to Starclan.
