Badgerheart slid down in his nest, his body ached from dashing back and fourth about the territory. He groaned and licked his sore white paw.
He began to groom his entire thick pelt, for once wishing he hadn't inherited the thick ginger fur that was beginning to become hot in the new-leaf days.
The senior warrior tugged at a knot in his fur but couldn't untangle in it from his fur. He linked his shoulder's lean muscles and laid his head down against the cool shaded ground.
The son of Owlstar was nearly asleep when a unappreciated disturbance roused him from the doze.
"BAAADGERHEART!" Sunpaw yowled at the top of his lungs. Grumbles and growls welcomed it, as warriors wearily lifted their heads to glare at the apprentice
Badgerheart flattened his ears at his young family's loud cry, "Great starclan..." He muttered to himself and lifted his head, with a sour expression. "What is it, Sunpaw!?"
The apprentice settled himself next to his older brother, grinning. "Take me hunting." He said simply.
"I'm not your mentor, Sunpaw." The ginger cat rolled onto his other side, away from the golden orange tom.
"Well, I can't find Slatepelt, I don't know where he went!" Sunpaw pounced on Badgerheart's side.
The tom grunted in pain, "I wonder why..." He growled softly.
"What?" Sunpaw inquired then wasn't interested anymose, "So, will you go hunting with me? Pleaase, with honey and mice on top!" He purred his whiskers twitching.
"Uh... let me think... NO!" Badgereart snapped angrily, pushing the apprentice away. "Get off me, and go disturb some other cat!"
"Fine!" The cat squealed, sounding more like a kit then a apprentice and he ran off in a fit.
The senior warrior purred with delight and once more drifted into sleep...
