Petalpaw's gentle steps pattered on the damp stones as she risked getting her paws wet by the river in Moonclan. Slowly, the quiet she-cat dipped her head to drink from the cool water.
She licked her whiskers and daintily padded off of the stones and brushed her paws against the spring grass. Her long tail swished in rhythm to her step and her light paws didn't make a single sound.
There was a slight disturbance in the wind, or the smell of it. Her eyesight suddenly narrowed to a single moving part that attracted her immediate attention.
A sleek furred rabbit hopped with its furry back turned. It nibbled on the fresh shoots of grass. Petalpaw's ears flattened against her head and a sly smile spread across her gray face. With slow calculated steps she slowly came forward.
The apprentice hid behind some long grasses, her paws twitched with anticipation as the succulent rabbit hopped a few tail lengths closer to it's hidden killer. The fur on her spine tickled her skin as it prickled and a low growl left her throat. The rabbit in return lifted its large black eyes from feeding and scanned the horizon.
The Moonclan cat hunkered down and patiently waited for her prey to lower its head once more before crouching a little taller. Petalpaw licked her lips once and let out a short yowl of excitement and charged at the rabbit.
The rabbit bolted its hind paws pounding the soft ground. But Petalpaw streaked after it, her long tail flailed for balance as she skidded back and fourht kicking up dirt. Soon, she felt the battle lost but she gritted her teeth and took a long leap forward. Her once soft and delicate paws became the grip of death for the rabbit. She then quickly dispatched the rabbit.
She lifted her bloodied muzzle and sat on her haunches and cleaned her whiskers. With a quick word of thanks to the Moon cat she picked up the limp rabbit and trotted toward home.
