A ginger cat creeped out of a stone den. A pale scar was slashed across his face. Power radiated around this small cat as he padded into the clearing. His green eyes searched the faces of the cats. "Where is Ratwhisker?" He asked his clan.
Foxnight was nearby and lifted his black head, "Off huntin' I heard." The warrior suggested, his orange tipped tail flicking toward the entrance way.
"I see." Said the small cat, "Did he send out any patrols?"
A brown tabby she-cat called Hawkstrike had been lounging behind Foxnight and she lifted her head. "Only the Dawn patrols, Badgerstar. I think it was only Rockclaw and Creektail."
Badgerstar's white tipped tail waved, and he peered over at the small fresh kill pile. "Well, we need food to feed out clan. Duskflower and Sapphirenight need lots of food to keep their kits healthy."
"Yeah, and we can't forget 'bout Morningpaw! Shes nearly hoppin' out of her furry pelt , shes so excited 'bout being a warrior!" Foxnight purred warmly, with his off accent.
Serpentclan's leader smiled faintly and stretched. "I'll arrange a hunting patrol to gather up some food." He lopped over to the regal stone sitting firmly on the sandy ground. The old cat leaped effortlessly onto its sun kissed surface.
Badgerstar surveyed his clan and saw many cats look up at him in anticipation. "Myself, Hawkstrike, Soulgazer, and Tulipsun shall go onto a hunting patrol to feed the clan. Prepare yourselves!" The ginger cat nimbly jumped from the rock and kinked his tail over his back. He waited for the cats to assemble.
Hawkstrike licked Foxnight over the head and bounced toward Badgerstar. She was still a young warrior and held Badgerstar in the highest respects. "Reporting for duty, sir!"
The leader smiled at the young cat, such youth. He enjoyed seeing them bounce about, just enjoying life. "You don't need to call me sir." He reminded her for probably the thousandth time.
"Oh but I enjoy it!" She purred and licked down her chest fur.
Quickly, Soulgazer and Tulipsun gathered behind them. Badgerstar made sure they were all there and began trotting toward the entrance but he paused, "Lunarshine!" He called to the healer, who had poked her white head out of aromatic den, "Do you need any herbs?"
The quiet healing cat shook her head, and quickly retreated back into her cozy cave.
"Lets move out cats!" Badgerstar called to them, and they all went in a stampede of swift paws. They burst into the forest the scents hitting them in the face. Their paws s=lammed silently on the leaf covered ground. The wind whipped their pelts and in unison they leaped over log and ditch. Soon they were on a western border, near Mistclan.
Badgerstar pulled out in front of them, scenting the air. "Lets try around here, I'm sure we'll catch something..." He lowered his muzzle to the ground and started searching the greenleaf forest.
Hawkstrike didn't lower her muzzle but just went into in a random direction toward the river, she lowered her jaw slightly to breath in. The warm scent of mouse wafted around her head and she leaped into action.
She lowered her lean bulk to the ground, her whiskers began to quiver as the delicious scent almost made her delirious. Her green eyes narrowed as her nose flared. Hawkstrike's paws were light on the ground as she slid forward like a silent breeze. The mouse's large ears twitched but it focused on its search for little nuts and seeds.
Her white tipped paws moved like they were in a pool of thick honey. Finally, she was near enough. The tabbies ears pricked and she took a leap at the mouse. It scurried through her paws and tried to escape. Hawkstrikes blocked its path and quickly snagged it with her claws and flung it into the air. She expertly caught it in her teeth and killed it.
The young warrior gave to Silverclan the mouse's life and swiftly buried it in search of more prey.

Soulgazer peeked through the undergrowth with his unnatural pink eyes. He flicked his dusky gray ears, and squeezed through a thicket of thorns. The sharp edges tugged as his thin fur but he shook himself and moved forward.
His head swung a mouselength above the ground trying to catch scents. He found stale mouse, leaf mold, scents of his clan cats, and... squirrel!
The gray tom looked up and scrutinized the forest until he found a plump squirrel sitting on the ground, with its back turned. Soulgazer smiled and he started stalking the succulent prey. His oddly small paws made little sound on the cool ground. He could hardly wait to catch the squirrel.
His steps here slow and calculated and he went out in short bursts of speed before finally charging at squirrel. It let out a loud chattering and broke for the trees. It's bushy tail was flailing with terror.
The Serpentclan warrior snarled and pursued with vigor. First his paw caught the tail, then his entire body came to kill the squirrel with a bite to the back of it's neck. Soulgazer bowed his head over the dead squirrel and whispered thanks to Silverclan.
He shook his dusky fur free of leaf scraps. Soulgazer glanced at the shadowed forest and decided to return to the clearing to see what the others had caught. Again he went through the thorn thicket and came to the same clearing.
Hawkstrike was carrying a mouthful of prey that smelled absolutely delicious. He looked over at Tulipsun who was carrying a fat vole, a smile was on her face. Last to appear was Badgerstar who carried a thrush and shrew in his mouth.
The leader looked pleased enough with their efforts and told them to return to camp once more. It was difficult returning with so much prey, but we all got warm welcomes all around.
