Rustkit bounded to his paws energeticly. Now that his eyes were open he was prepared to face the world and fight to protect his siblyings. He raised his head proudly with a swift glance behind him. He stopped. He breathed in, "Specklekit?"
The off-white tom crouched a little distance with an indifferent look on his face. He was silent and unmoving, other then the gleam of his gray eyes and the steady rise and fall of his narrow chest. He couldn't smell his speckled sister, but he knew that she tended to wonder away at times. Twistedkit much preferred the safety of the nursery for now. In the inky darkness, for a moment he didn't notice his crippled hind leg or his strangely folded forward ears. "Shes probably off somewhere." The tom kit murmured, his crooked tail twitching awkwardly.
The ginger tom looked at his brother. His green eyes glinted with worry, "I don't like it," he grumbled. He slipped over to the opening of the nursery. He waited, "She could have only left is she was with mother..."
Twistedkit shrugged grumpily and lifted himself slowly, trying to balance on his three legs. His eyes were downcast as he made himself walk, he didn't like his uneven gate and loathed walking around his clan mates. He saw how they looked at him, with their pity filled stares. He hated that, he wanted to be his own cat unfazed about their eyes following him. He could only find peace in his deaf sister, and he didn't mind not talking, he just enjoyed staying in her presence.
Rustkit glanced behind him. His eyes narrowed slightly at his crippled brother. With a small sigh he sprawled out on the ground near the entrance. "I hope she's not hurt," His mind flickered to a few days before. Rumblekit had found a berry in one of the corners of the nursery. When they had squished it, the berry let off a lovely smell. Specklekit had stared at them, "Smell?" she had asked. His poor sweet sister, there was no reason that anything should be kept from her. He grinning lightly, he adored her. She loved each of them equally, and he figured that Twistedkit was grateful that she never seemed to notice his lame leg.
The white she-cat peered out of the nursery, the world was silent as usual. Her black ears twitched as if she was trying to listen but all there was, was a dull ring. Giving her head a light shake she padded out of the den feeling the gentle vibration of cat paws on the well worn ground. She peered about, despite her deafness she could see so much. Even little detail was so evident to her, she didn't mind if she was mute to the world. Just the vibrant view of it was enough for her, she looked around with her peace filled dark eyes until she focused on Twistedkit's hunched over form and a little ways off her brother, Rustkit lay sprawled on the ground. She had seen Eclipsekit and Rumblekit in the nursery, the only one she had not seen was Specklekit.
Rumblekit raised his head. He ducked his head in irritation as sunlight flickered over his brown face. Getting to his paws sourly he Rustkit his one eye glared, "Whats with all this racket?" he growled softly. Snorting he didnt wait for an answer and sulked off to a further corner.
The blue tom cat glanced at his brother and sister a cool smirk on his face. "Now, now. We shouldn't be all cross with eachother." He meowed in a soothing tone, he had already pinned himself down to be the peace maker between the siblings. His orange eyes looked them over, "Whats the problem?" He asked in a serious tone, it was serious enough to be almost funny coming from just a kit.
Rustkit got to her paws. She glanced at Eclipsekit worriedly. "I don't immagine you have seen Specklekit either have you?" She closed her eyes worriedly, "She's been gone all day,"
"This is quite a question, huh?" Eclipsekit meowed in a questioning voice, he scrunched his face up trying to think of the last time he saw his sister. It had been last night during their final meal of the day but he hadn't seen her since. "I have not, Twistedkit! You seen her?" He had a no nonsense tone in his voice that could make the most stubborn kit spill their guts to him. He also padded up to Blackkit trying to figure out some way to tell her. His ears perked as he thought of a way, and with his claw he scrawled a rough picture of a cat with speckles on it's back. And he looked at her with a questioning face.
Twistedkit laid down looking at Eclipsekit out of the corner of his eye, "I haven't seen her since last night, but shes probably fine. She enjoys wondering off by herself. " His gray eyes glittered with evident angst and he turned away from the other kits, digging his little claws into the soil fiercely. His folded ears twitched in annoyance but they couldn't fold back like he had seen other cats do.
Blackkit looked at Twistedkit, then at Eclipsekit. She realized their were looking for specklekit, she thought back and couldn't even remember seeing her sister for a long time. She shook her head vigorously, having not seen her for awhile. She raised his nose to scent the air, but her sister's scent was so faint that she must have left a long time ago.
Rumblekit glanced back towards Eclipsekit. "She is probaly with mother," he grumbled and shifted away from the others. He hated how when he looked at them, they looked blury and he had to turn his head to face the cat if he wanted to speak with them. Snorting he layed down, his nose facing the nursery wall. He also found it odd how much Eclipsekit mimicked their mother in looks, it just was to strange for him. A small idea poped in his head and he glancec back at his litter-mates. "Maybe father came and took her off somewhere," he suggested. Though he didn't realy know his father. Mother said he couldn't come visit them all the time but it didn't mean he loved them any less. He scoffed.
"I hope father comes and visits us!" Eclipsekit meowed in a more perky voice, "I hope he has a tail..." He vaguely remembered something about him not having a tail but he couldn't remember it exactly. The gray cat shrugged it off and laid down on his side with a huff. "Wheres mother anyway?" He scowled, she was probably doing her leader duties. She said they were very important but he didn't like it when she went off for long times, things like this would happen. His tail flicked upward, and he glanced behind him at his older sister who was a queen. She was sleeping-oh-so-boringly. He looked forward with sigh.
Rustkit lashed her tail and twirled in a circle. She had an idea! "What if we go find mother? Then she can help us find Specklekit," She suggested eagerly. She skipped over to Eclipsekit. She liked her brother, he wasn't always grumpy and normaly willing to listen. "What do you think?"
He gave his sister a wide grin, and leaped to his paws. "Yeah! It'll be an adventure!" He ruffled his gray pelt, and pounced forward, he flicked Blackkit's shoulder for her to follow and called to Twistedkit. "Come on! It'll be fun!" A smile grew large on his face, his rump wriggling with the thought of getting out of camp.
Rustkit shot her brother an angered glare. "Hush!" she shiised. She glanced back at the sleeping queens. "You'll wake one of them up," Her dark green eyes flashed over to Rosepaw, and she grimanced.
The deaf she-cat could just feel the excitement going through the air. She judged by their memento that they were going out into the forest, her fur bristled with anticipation and she let out a squeak of thrill. It was one of the only sounds she could make without slurring her words beyond recognition. Blackkit nudged Twistedkit playfully, willing him to go with them into the forest where he could wake in the peace of the forest.
"This is stupid." Twistedkit grumbled, baring his teeth in annoyance. But his eyes shone with the interest of a curious kit. He didn't want to be left out of the fun so he lifted himself up, balancing on three legs as he usually did and he hobbled toward them a bold expression on his off-white face. He was ready to raise all hell if he had to. "Lets get out of here!" He hissed in an urgent whisper.
[6:02:10 PM] Blueefire: Rumblekit gritted his teeth. Anger coarsed through him, of course they would forget him. He sighed and rested his head on his paws, maybe they thought he was deaf like his sister or that since he couldn't see he wouldn't be of any help. Growling and spitting under his breathe he closed his eyes. Someone would probaly catch them anyways.
Rustkit nodded eagerly to her litter mates. Taking the lead, she slowly crept towards the entrence as she did her best to keep her excitement from overwhelming her. She grinned, she could see the camp. It was bustling with activity and new things to explore.
"Come on, Rumblekit!" He barked, glancing at his brother, the blood pounding in his ears, his heart beat increasing in tempo every moment. He leaped up next to Rustkit.
Rumblekit snorted. He was just a kit tha didn't matter. He was nothing different except his half-blindness. He had no similarities to his parents, and nothing different from them that made him special. Sniffling he ignored his brother's call.
Rosepaw woke up with a gasp, her green eyes wide with alarm. Her dreams had again returned to haunt her, but this time they were laced with fangs and black eyes. She shook her thick fur and stood up taking note of the nursery around her. Everything seemed to be of peaceful circumstances, but something was missing. She looked down at Stingkit, he was there, right where he had been when tey had both fallen asleep. But then, a flag of alarm went through her. Her little siblings weren't there! "Oh no! Ohh no!" she groaned looking around the nursery. Their scent was still here but they were not. She launched herself into the clearing and saw their little forms just about to leave the camp. Rosepaw leaped across the ground and skidded in front of them, acting as the kitsitter she was supposed to be. "What do you think you're doing!?" She growled, and began herding them back to the nursery, lecturing all the way. "You should never go into the forest with no supervision. Any kit that does that is sure to be dead by the end of the day."
Horror flashed over Rustkit. She stared at her older sister as she repeated her words in her mind. "By the end of the day?" She screeched in alarm. Her eyes popped. "Specklekit!" She wailed.
Rumblekit grinned. His siblyings would be punished for their part time adventure. Twitching his tail in contempt rolled onto his back prepared to hear their punishment.
Eclipsekit exchanged a glance with his sister and backed up against Blackkit, with a terrified expression on his gray face. "But! We need to find Specklekit!" He wailed running into Rosepaw was a desperate expression. His wide orange eyes looked at his older sister. His eyes glistened with scared tears for his sister, "Let us out!"
Rosepaw looked at them with an alarmed expression, her fur bristled. "What do you mean, we need to find Specklekit!?" She asked, her green eyes wide. "Where is she!?" The queen demanded her long tail lashing from side to side. A run away kit was never a good thing, and this could escalate into something worse and more serious. "When was the last time you saw her!?" She snapped, her green eyes were alive with flames of despair and worry.
"Last night when we ate!" she mumbled through her sobs. "You gotta find her!"
"Great StarClan!" She wailed, "Mothers going to KILL us!" She leaped into action, "But lets get into the nursery first." The queen took them into the nursery with hurried movements. She wished Blueestar was here now, maybe she would know the answer to their problem. But she hadn't the slightest idea where she was or when she would be back. She felt despair build up inside of her as she looked out of the nursery with a down expression.
"Momma, whats going on?" Stingkit asked, his mostly green eyes staring at her. He was bigger then the other kittens, four moons old now. He could be by him for long periods of time now, but he looked young and small like the tiny kit he once was.
Blueestar pushed her way into the nursery. Taking deep breathes as she walked trying to calm her frazzled mind. She flicked her tail to keep from attacking the nearst thing with her claws. Foolish army cats! With a shake of her head she turned her attention to her children, and grandchild. She took in their horrified expressions and her wailing new-borns. "Whats wrong?" she demanded.
Rosepaw looked in surprise to the entrance of the nursery. Her eyes were like moons, as she stared at her. She couldn't believe that she had failed this one test, her ears flattened out and her eyes looked at the moss covered ground. "Mother... We can't find Specklekit..." She cringed, expecting a big explosion to rain down on her. She coiled her tail over her kit's ears in a precaution.
Blueestar stared at her daugher. She shook her head in disbelif, "No!" she yowled. Tears streaked down the older cat's face. "Not again," She burried head face into the ground as immages of her two other kits. Peircing green and vibrant blue eyes glaring at her.
The apprentice was shocked by her sudden change in emotion, but she was expecting it. Quickly, she went to her mother's side and comforted her like she would do for her when she those horrible nightmares. She pressed her nose against her mother's fur, her eyes shut tightly. "We'll find her. I know we will..." Her voice trailed off, not trusting her own voice at this moment. How would they score the woods in time to find such a small kit? "Use your warriors... they can patrol every border... every inch of territory..."
Blueestar shook her head. Standing up she forced her self to take control on the situation. "No. Her scent would have already been muddied," She glanced at the woods. "First we track, seccond we tell the patrols to keep an eye open," She looked at each of her kits. She gave each of them a gently lick on the head, including Rosepaw and Stringkit. "Rosepaw, stay up with them please. I know you are tired but try to see if you can get them to calm down and fall asleep. If they do so than lightly dozing is fine," She moved towards the the entrence. "May Starclan protet you," she murmured before pushing her way out.
Blackkit stared at the two she-cats, her green eyes wide with alarm. She didn't need to hear to see how upset her mother was, her flanks were shaking from the sobs and her face glistened with tears. She didn't like how her mother looked right now. She seemed vulnerable and sad, the sight of it brought tears to her eyes and a soft whimper, she watched her mother leave and silent tears fell from her dark green eyes. The white kit shrunk down close to the ground, closing her eyes she pushed the world away from her.
Rumblekit scrambled over to his sister. "Shh," he murmured, knowing it wasn't of much use. He pressed his brown fur into hers. He turned his head and licked her ear soothingly. He glanced at the others, figuring for now the best idea for them would just to be together.
The crippled tom kit limped slowly to Blackkit's other side, pressing his fur against hers. He didn't say anything, his gray eyes just stared at the ground with a blank expression. His crooked tail twitched, and after a long moment of silence he looked up at Rosepaw with a dark expression.
Rustkit moved forwad stiffly and curled up in a ball infront of her sister. She closed her eyes tightly afraid of the tears that might spill.
Eclipsekit stood in front of his siblings, his tail kinked over his head and he stood boldly. His orange eyes glowed with determination, "We can't just sit here!" The kit demanded, his eyes sparking with fire. He hated being forced just to sit around and do nothing about it. His gray fur was bristling with aggravation. "We want to help search for our sister!" He bared his tiny fangs, his ears pressed against his skull and he puffed his chest out.
"No, Eclipsekit..." Rosepaw sighed, laying the tip of her tail on his back. She didn't want to take his pride or make him do what he didn't want to but she would have to. "You are to young to go out into the forest. The nursery is the safest place for you to do." The gentle apprentice curled around them, her fur ruffled slightly. Slowly, she licked her little siblings with caressing strokes. "Lets just get some sleep, our mother will take care of all this... I know she will."
The off-white tom crouched a little distance with an indifferent look on his face. He was silent and unmoving, other then the gleam of his gray eyes and the steady rise and fall of his narrow chest.
