Leoni scowled darkly, staring at them without his fond joyfulness that usually covered his face. He looked at them with an annoyed expression that couldn't sum up his great disappointment. Time was passing swiftly, and he saw the moon in the sky, and decided that he might go hunting before moonhigh.
The loner crouched low, staring hard the suspicious cat. He didn't feel like trusting anyone right now. His ears were pinned backward, eyes narrowed. He had spent a lone time alone, he didn't think he could trust anyone here. Without another word he slipped into the welcoming shadows. He wasn't usually one to do the dramatic vanishing in the night, with his usually cheerful attitude. But to him this seemed like a proper time to vanish into the shadows.
Leoni didn't want to disappear really, he just peered through the bushes like some lonely stalker seeking the company of others. He wished he was one of them, a cat made fat by their plentiful land. He was glad just to be well fed for a day, then he reminded him of Pebble. He was a loner, he lived well away from other cats, and he was a great, fat cat. Pebble looked more like a kittypet. The loner snorted and watched with great interest.
His ears cocked to the side, flicking a drop of water from his long white whiskers. It was still cold, and he trembled like a the last leaf on the tree. He blinked, sensing the power of two cats in the group, they seemed to be in charge yet they looked so different in size and appearance. They smelled different too, he assumed they were from the clans. He wrinkled his nose, one definitely smelled worse, but he tried to stay hidden.
"They talk and walk... like nothings happening out side of their world, I can see them." He whispered acidly, he was going mad by the feeling that he wanted to run out their and be with those other cats but he couldn't. He didn't trust them with a single fiber, he shrank low and watched, a twitch curling his lip. Leoni attempted to shake off the feeling, but the longer he watched the more he wanted to be there in the moment. They didn't seem unfriendly, their words cheerful and teasing. No one wants to be with a loner though, Leoni believed himself an outcast from their cozy clans.
The loner let out a ragged breath and whipped around, eyes like disks of jade. He didn't like to look at them, he was haggard in his appearance unkempt and with a wild look in his eyes. He dug his claws into the tree bark, he let out a grunt as he began heaving his body higher into the leafless tree. He felt his feeble strength struggling to hold on to the bark. He wished he was well fed like those clan cats! He let out a savage hiss that matched his twisted appearance. The loner through his weight onto his branch and cackled madly. He felt to alive right now, pouncing up the tree like some crazy squirrel. He looked down from his noble perch, now he was higher and better then those fat, over fed cats!
Leoni looked over the edge, leaning farther and farther. His laugh had reached critical madness. His claws were prickling the bark, and his fur was bristling along his spine, what could be more fun the watching them squirm below as his eyes burrowed into their sleek, greasy fur. The gray and white cat howled at his success and how he would dominate their mindlessness, rule over their fat lives and with hope he would be ridden of his madness for the last time. His eyes grew in intensity, and reared onto his hind paws balancing dangerously on the branch. His mad voice carried far into the woods. "I am Leoni!" He howled, "You simple cats will bow!" His last words were morphed into a shriek as he teetered backward.
Snow covered the forest floor in a soft blanket, making a soft crunching sound as Gazelle smoothly padded across it. Her paws moved in an elegant, fluid way as she entered the Clearing, her tail-tip twitching the slightest bit. The shecat was thin, hard muscles shifting smoothly beneath her pelt in a synced patern as she crossed the Clearing. Jet-black fur covered the rogue's slender body, with fiery ginger splashes. Her eyes were a unique color, the brightest of green's and yet there was a slight tint of a pale amber near her pupil with light blue near the edges of her eyes. Gazelle let out a yawn, revealing razor-sharp, ivory teeth that sliced through cats like a leaf in Greenleaf. The shecat flicked her ears as she heard a loud yowl from within a tree, she turned her head around, glancing up curiously.
The shecat flicked her tail, knowing that this rogue so called "Leoni" was speaking of Clan cats. She shrugged, Not my problem. She thought, wrapping her thin tail around her paws as she sat down on a small patch of clovers, the only green spot in the white clearing.
What were they to do? They had nothing he couldn't take... As his paws battered the air, he could hardly notice how he was going backward slowly. His paws, which had once been so balanced and steady began to rock the branch back and forth with increasing motion. The insane cat didn't seem to notice as he let out a caterwaul into the night sky, the rain splattered on his face as he looked to the moon for a sign that he was right. No such thing came, he couldn't even see the moon through the horrible gray clouds. The loner finally began to realize he was falling. But now it was much to late as he lost his footing. Letting out a bloodcurdling shriek he felt the wind hiss by his ears. The tree had been high, and the cold wind hitting him seemed to dragging him out of the madness. During the last seconds, he twisted in mid air, his paws destined to land first. It was less then a second when he crashed into the ground. There was a sickening thud, as his hunger ridden body landed. But he wasn't dead yet, he shifted painfully, a moan coming from his slightly parted mouth.
He opened his eyes to bleary slits, the world was still and maddeningly red. Leoni was so confused, as black spots began to blot out his already hard sight. Then it hit him! He couldn't breath, the fall had knocked the air out of his lungs with such force he had to struggle for the sweet taste of air. Leoni filled his bruised lungs with air, but he reminded himself not to breath so deeply. A sharp pain erupted in his lungs, which just caused him to gasp again in all of his pain. As his chest heaved in agony, he stumbled upward, trying to soothe his pain but the moment he was steadied he felt the twisted agony in his paws. Leoni collapsed to the ground, with his face in the freezing snow. He was helpless now, to their mercy.
Kalcette sauntered over to Gazelle the Gruesome, where the she-cat stood, looking over Leoni. "Salutations," She greeted, formality lacing her smooth duotones, "What seems to be the problem?" Her multi-hued irises switched from Gazelle the Gruesome to Leoni, a small frown stitching across her slim muzzle.
"I dunno, honestly. This to mfell out of this tree, and the best word to describe his er spasms, is a spazz attack." She mewed, flicking a paper-thin ear. She sat down, glancing at Kalcette then to Leoni, once again prodding the tom in the flank.
The female bounded in. Her gray tail sticking up staight as she ran. Eyeing Leoni she blinked warily. "Oh you!" She exclaimed and scuttled forward to the awkward tom, he was nice...
Kalcette's delicate head bobbed in a well-mannered nod. "I see," She meowed, noting Leoni's soft groans of pain when Gazelle the Gruesome prodded him. "Ah! I have not fully introduced myself. I am Kalcette," The she-cat smiled, "I feel so improper not politely informing you of my name! How berry-brained of me."
"I can survive without you!" He spat, laying on his side, having his breath slow steadily. His pelt was even more ragged, matted with snow and soil. Leoni felt like he would never be clean again, but he hoped he wasn't crippled. He knew some cats knew herbs better then him, but how could he trust them. They would poison him, and leave him to die in his embarrassing state. He clenched his teeth, and stood, his flanks rising and falling with more pain as he felt the tortuous stabbing sensation in his front paws. The loner believed he had a few cracked ribs, and sprained front paws. His jade colored eyes turned to glare at the new arrival.
Gazelle chuckled, dipping her head also. "I'm Gazelel the Gruesome, Gazelle for short." She mewed, looking at the shecat that had just padded over to them, standing over Leoni, known as Icytalon. "Hello." She mewed, dipping her head again.
Kalcette grinned, "It seems he is quite embarrassed." Her head swiveled towards the sound of nearing footfalls, her marbled hazel eyes landing momentarily on Icytalon, before turning away, scenting her Clan smell.
Gazelle nodded in agreement, letting a slight chuckle escape her slender jaws. She gave a disdainful sniff towards Icytalo, scenting Clan. She shrugged than returned her gaze to Leoni, an expression on her face.
Bright blue eyes stared confidently at Leoni. She took a step forward and rested her tail on his shoulder, "Your hurt," She shook her fur, it had been a while since she cameto this part of the forest. Her ears had caught that Clawheart lives in Thunderclan now, disgusting. Who lives with clan-cats? She nosed Leoni friendly, "Do you remember me?" she poke quietly, her voice calm as she dealed with the stressed tom.
She let a yawn rush from her mouth, a stretch rippling down her spine as she blinked. Flicking her tail through the mushy stuff called snow, she yawned. "Well, I'm not sure if this tom is in a coma or just tired so.... yeah."
He jerked away from her touch, it burned his bruised body. He couldn't handle looking at them, he knew his paws were badly hurt but he was on the brink of dashing away from the cursed space. He took a stumbled step forward, the pain that erupted was blinding. Leoni fell again, but he got back up once more, for a final time he fell to his side, to exhausted to move again. He couldn't let them win! He let out a loud, strangled cry of a cat in mortal terror. Why were they watching? His ears were ringing so loud, he couldn't hear them. They were laughing! He cried out in another bought of agony.
The creamy female sighed lightly. Her blue eyes glared evenly at the two other cats. "Don't look at him," She murmured. She went to lay by the tom. Her fur was barely brushing his and she closed her eyes. "Your okay Leoni." Her white head rested on his shoulder as she began purring. "I'm your friend," Her voice was soft and a purr was still strong through her meow.
Leoni's eyes bulged from his sockets, he was here, lying immobilized. With death possibly beckoning him away, he knew he wasn't going to die. But what if they were making it come faster? Was he numb? Could he not feel? Maybe this she-cat was taring his claws across his back, maybe his vulnerable throat. He thought death would hurt, but still no pain? Maybe he wasn't dead... in the back of his insane mind he began to hear a soft comforting voice. He liked it... It sounded friendly and comforting, like the voice his mother used to make when he was scared or hurt. He instantly relaxed, and some of his pain was released into nothing. The ringing in his ears stopped, he thanked what ever religion he followed and moved his head through the snow, whimpering slightly. He still hurt, but the tense feeling had gone from his messed up paws. Now that his breath was slowing, his chest was now only a dull throb.
Icytalon's tail curled around the tom as she felt him relax. Shifting her head slightly away she began to slowly lick Leoni's shoulder. It made her purr grow stronger as she rasped her bright pink tongue over his fur. Her nose pressed into his body and sunk into the warmth of his body. Her eyes closed lightly and her mind clouded with visions of happy thoughts. If she was mumbling in her sleep or still comforting Leoni it wasn't sure but her words became mumbled as she talked to him.
He felt her tongue rasp on his ragged pelt, it felt odd, being cared for by another cat. He enjoyed the touch greatly, it had been too long since he felt the feeling of another. A shudder of joy went through his thin body, he slowly became self-conscious about his external appearance, not like he had been for such a long time. He felt the urge to pull his beaten body up and lick at his fur just to look presentable. For the first time, his mind felt clear and every thing was so pristine. His parted his mouth, licking his dry lips slowly, his eyes revolving around. "Hey... I know you." He murmured, his voice soft and tired. "Icytalon..." He was still very winded and had to take a very large breath that hurt him, "I love you." He murmured, his eyes slits, he wondered if she heard him. The words had been a struggle, but how else would be describe that she practically saved his soul from the insane torture.
Her eyes fluttered open, she had caught Leoni's words. Smiling lightly to herself she began licking his pelt working on cleaning his pretty fur. "No Leoni it's not love," Pulling her tail tighter around him she snuggled against him. "Not yet," Determination filled her voice as she whispered the words.
He murmured softly, the tingling numbness in his paws stretched up his legs and he felt his body going cold from the snow around him. He began to tremble like leaf, as he curled his legs near to his chest and belly. His eyes were closed from the days stress, he could barely hear Icytalon's reply but he understood it and he would wait for her. He had been patient before in those lonely nights before he came here, but he was just so cold... the snow was melting in his fur, biting as his once warm skin as it cooled.
Her dry creamy fur brushed against him as she cuddled against her body. Leoni's body warmth was better than a lonely night huddled against a tree trying to shelter herself from the harsh weather. Even with his dirt tangled into his fur it felt so soft against her. "Your so soft," She mumbled into his fur.
He was shaking more now, what did it take to get somewhere warm? Leoni rolled his head back and forth, his eyes opened wide as his injured paws sent rippled of pain up his legs. "Icytalon... help me onto my paws, its... its so cold in this snow." His voice sounded pained, he wanted nothing more then a dry patch somewhere to get the mats from his wet fur, and hopefully lull into sleep with a new found friend as his side. He rocked on side, heaving his hind quarter into the air, with his front ankles on the snow, but as he got to his paws he fell onto his chest with his butt still in the air.
Leoni limped painfully, his paws were searing with the intensity of his pain. He hated being so weak, the walk to the dry stop tortured his already weak body to his limits. The only way he made was the way he leaned on Icytalon with practically all of his weight. The moment he could, he fell to his side, gasping in pain. The loner snuggled into the prickly pine needles, it seemed almost warm, without the frozen snow or the dampness of before. Granted, one side was still horribly wet, it was much better now. He actually let out a purr, as he could truly relax here.
Icytalon blinked the sleepies out of her eyes, tonight was going to be long. "Sleep," She murmured to him as she scrambled towards him. Laying out besides him she began cleaning his pelt. Working on the dirt and mats. Keeping away thoughts of slipping into a slumber next to him she began humming a small kitty tune.
Slowly, his eyes closed with weariness. The friendly darkness enveloped him with its dark blanket. It was so soothing and lovely, he approached the warm feeling. The comforting tune helped him sleep, he wondered when the last it was when he had slept through an entire night. But, now he was injured, practically crippled for a temporary time. Leoni mused over he was going to survive his current situation, but suddenly the song came to his mind and his worries slipped away for the time being.
Finishing with that side of his pelt she straightened up and got to her paws. Leaning over she gave him a swift lick on the head. As she eyed him for a moment she could understand Leoni's earlier confession. The same emotion was beginning to build inside of her. Shaking her head she quickly slipped from their resting area. Snow was beginning to build around the tree making excellent insulation. Slipping from there she stretched in the fresh air and asked in the moonlight. Smiling she bounded away and opened her senses to her hunt.
Icytalon raised her head and took in a deep breathe. Stale, Stale, St- Oh mouse! Smirking in satsfaction the loner moved quickly into the forest following the scent, fearing the tiny creature would get too cold and run to its burrow. She froze in her steps and eyed the creature scuttling around. Your mine, She thought visciously. Pausing she gave her head a defiant shake. No you are Leoni's. Crouching lower to the ground, her fur belly began brushing the snow. Tying to keep from chuckling at the tickling sensation she moved forward swiftly her paw steps confident. Barely making a crunch on the snowy surface she edged closer till she was in leaping range. She dropped her haunches closer to the ground before springing up and landing on the mouse. Droppng her head she bite down and broke its neck.
The loner crouched low, staring hard the suspicious cat. He didn't feel like trusting anyone right now. His ears were pinned backward, eyes narrowed. He had spent a lone time alone, he didn't think he could trust anyone here. Without another word he slipped into the welcoming shadows.
