Joey crouched in the undergrowth, his green eyes bright in the morning light. The ground was covered in lovely white snow that was so much fun to pounce in! The kittypet grinned and pounced through the icy substance. He had been cooped up in his House for the longest time! He wanted to stretch his short legs and see what sights he could find in the forest surrounding his home. His glimmering eyes spotted a stream not too far away, and with lazy leaps he approached the frozen stream. With a dainty paw he touched the cool just to recoil backwards with a squeal of amusement. The tom gave a giggle and rolled on his back in the frosty snow. His thick pale ginger fur was flecked with white snowflakes as he got up again.
Another obnoxious giggle came to his throat, and he ran around making more noise then necessary. He squealed and growled and meowed, as if no one could hear him. He had yet to notice the leaner, rougher looking cat only fox-lengths away. As he ran he was caught in an epic sneeze that sent him onto his plump behind. Though he shivered as snow touched him, but he began licking clumps of ice from between his soft pads. He was beginning to get bored with wondrous winter world that was just starting to make him shiver. Giving his little body a shake he tottered toward the ice covered stream and began licking the ice.
Just as he was going to pull away from the stream, he found himself...stuck! His vibrant pink tongue had attached itself to the very ice was licking. Joey let out a squeak! He tugged backwards, only causing his tongue to hurt even more! The young kittypet let out a pitiful wail, which sounded quite odd due to the fact his tongue was stuck to ice. He claws at the frozen stream madly, his little claws doing little to free him from his horrible place. He tugged backwards, getting nowhere. Tears of pain welled up in his eyes, as the icy wind burned his warm flesh.
He wished he had never come into this dreaded woodlands! All he wanted to do was play in the snow, then go back home to his Two-legs and caressed with their loving hands. But his young mind could only think of the negatives of what was happening. He thought he would be stuck here forever! Covered with snow! He would never feel warm again! Joey took another wail up into the freezing air, he hadn't felt this much pain, he would never fight in a battle or struggle for hunger. The kittypet didn't have much fighting spirit, his thoughts were dull and unexciting, to no one but him. He could have been entertained with a simple feather for hours, but this was too much for his little mind. The panic was unexpected, and this sensation of pain was new to him.
He looked at Joey "Whoa!" He bounded over to him "Calm down little dude," he chuckled "you've got yourself in a little rut, eh?"
The kittypet looked at the unfamiliar cat with big teary eyes. He didn't know this was, but he didn't feel any fear at all. He never understood forest cat tales that had led him to venture into the forest, and he had never felt any cat hurt him before and this cat didn't seem to be aggressive. The kitten gave a little squirm of joy; he was going to be saved! Joey squeaked loudly, tugging at his tongue, his tears had stopped, though it still hurt. Terror was being replaced by relief, "I'm Joey!" His tone was so distorted by the inability to use his tongue, it was hard to understand the kit's quick speaking.
"Nice to meet you Joey" he purred, watching the young kit with amusement. The kittypet reminded him of Jongo and Toid "I think I can help you, it might hurt though"
He put on a very amusing scowl, which looked quite out of place on this unmarked and soft looking face. He was to plump and weak to frame a fierce looking scowl, but he tried though it didn't work out so well. He had never had to show any real emotion; just mindless happiness usually clouded his features with the idea that he was not very smart. He gave a little bounce, knowing it would hurt to de-stick his tongue but he was ready, he braced his shoulders and glanced at the cat, which he didn't know the name of, and tugged a bit at his attached pierce of flesh. Soon he would be home again, being loved by his people and out of this horrible cold! The excitement that he'd be there soon sent him into a tizzy of shuffling paws and a twitching tail.
"Ok, calm down Joey, I'll be right back" he chuckled before he raced to the RiverClan medicine cat den
Joey blinked and watched him leave; he wanted to know where he was! He growled with impatience to get free, he wanted his people! Even that puppy his people had gotten, he let out a squeal as he squirmed and then he saw the cat return. He looked slightly flustered, but of course this dull kitten didn't see that he just knew that he moments away from getting free and away. His little claws sank into the frozen ground, his toes were slowly getting numb and when he was free he'd lay by the furnace and sleep off this experience.
"Blah!" He stood up and, shaking his pelt "I got the wet moss" he said, padding back up to Joey."Now calm down" he grumbled, squeezing the warm water out of the moss onto his tongue.
Moss? What was moss going to do! He knew what moss was he played with it often enough, tossing it around his fenced in territory. His two-legs would some times flick it away and he would chase it, it was always a fun time! He crossed his eyes to look at the cat administering the strangely warm water onto his tongue, he may have been stupid but it was freezing outside! Where was there to be warm water? Sometimes his people would put warm water in his bowl when it was cold outside. Before he could go off onto his fond kittypet memories he felt a tingling sensation in his tongue. It was uncomfortable, but when he tugged backward slightly he tongue began to peel off! When mounting excitement he jerked his head, and his tongue came right off! He didn't notice the throbbing of his tongue, until it was safely back in his mouth. He scurried off through the, forgetting to thank the cat that had kept him away from freezing to death in the cold.
He laughed slightly watching Joey bound off Do all kittypets have this much energy? He asked himself, referring to Jongo. His kittypet friend was always energetic when it came to life in the forest, same with Toid, he loved hanging out with himself and Fang. Thinking about this made him forget he was standing past his paws in snow; very soon his pads began to freeze after just standing there. He jumped out of place, dropping the moss
Joey felt himself bounce up and down through the snow. He had to say, his tongue did hurt! But he didn't mind all that much, his mind was clouded with thoughts of plastic balls that made ringing noises and feathers on the end of strings! He would play and play until he couldn't anymore! His eyes were happy slits as he approached his fence, he could smell his people! He crouched down, giving his butt a little wiggle and he leaped onto the branch. He teetered, his balance a little off and he jumped back onto his side of the fence. It was safe here, in a nicely groomed garden and snow covered yard. He bounded through the snow, and went into his house through the cat flap. The kittypet vowed to stay until the dreadful cold was away!
